While its star does not shine as brightly as it did once upon a time, MJQ remains a legendary mainstay of Atlanta nightlife. MJQ's clientele has shifted from Artsy and eclectic to academic and eccentric, but the staff is friendly, the bartenders are excellent and while the music in the main room is often difficult to stomach, the warm environs of the more lounge-like "cafe" back room often proves better for bar flys. 736 Ponce de Leon PL, just off Ponce de Leon Ave. (Midtown)

Our favorite coffee bar has recently gained their beer and wine license and now feature some great Belgians and American microbrews with extended hours of operation. To help celebrate, DJs T1 and AGENT45 are extremely excited to announce that they're starting up a new monthly funk and soul night with the inaugural party happening on 2/11. And yes - there IS room to dance if you want!

Custom small-run, screen printed concert posters. This trio's work has appeared in movies ("Road Trip") and in cities such as Philadelphia and Nashville as well as Atlanta. These guys brilliantly carry on the tradition of the great Fillmore posters of the 60s. The quality is always high and the posters are always beautiful.

DJ Jamal Ahmed produces one of Atlanta's best kept secrets, while gaining international respect. Jamal's impressive blend of modern Soul and NuJazz is truly the new sound of young America. Probably not a great place for visitors, unless you bring a U-Haul along. Mid-century furniture with a high turnover rate means the owners are either finding the goods extremely quickly, or they're pricing their furniture too low. Either way, you won't see the number of designer pieces as you would at a place like Good Eye in Washington D.C. but if YOU have a good eye, you'll be well pleased with this shop situated next door to one of Atlanta's only outlets for first-run art and foreign films, Garden Hills Cinema. 2825 Peachtree Road, 30305(Buckhead)

Wide selection for women and men from the 1940s through the 1970s. Presentation is impeccable, the merchandise is always clean, and NOS items are not unusual here. Prices are fair; not cheap but not unreasonably expensive. The staff is fantastic. 1160 Euclid Ave NE (Little Five Points)
