Popscene is a Mod fanzine based in Newcastle. It is a free zine and usually publised monthly, all you need is a stamped adressed envelope to get it. This shop has traditionally been associated with the rock fraternity, hippies and has never had much Mod appeal. However, you might find some Mod sewn-on patches, just pukka for the parka. They also stock a good choice of traditional 60's post-cards and posters.

Period Clothing Warehouse (PCW), situated on Grey Street, is a popular shop with indie kids, students and the like, however there enough quality items for the discerning Mod. They often have a good selection of Fred Perry tops about £12, a good selection of parkas with most style and colours. This shop does however tend to be poor on suits. PCW does have many quality accessories from 60's coffee tables and chairs through to bowling bags, offering both the traditions and more recent designer styles. There is also a great selection of Levi jeans at a cost of about £15, a little pricey, but they are usually in excellent condition.

Saturn, Cross Street, contains mostly clothes in the 60's psychedelic vein. More flowers on the clothes than a beedin' florist.

Best places for records are Oldhitz (Newgate Street) for old hits on vinyl at very reasonable prices, Reflex (Nun Street) - this shop has been open about a year and seems to have everything you want, with none of the stuff that you don't, and finally RPM situated on Newgate Street, a truly and independent record store, with a good choice of CD's as well vinyl. Also worth a mention is Roots Music on Westgate Road. This shop specialises in Jazz, from North American, through to World and European, classic and modern all covered. If you like jazz mucic then you have to check this place out.
