Farewell: Uppers Music Editor Bill Luther steps down

After much thought about the matter I have decided that the time has come for me to resign as Uppers music editor. I have not been very active for the past year or so on Uppers and I have failed to create an influx of new writers/articles as I had sought to do these past few years. I have very much enjoyed my time writing for and editing the music section. I’d like to thank all my Uppers editors for weathering the storm I created with Ian Page and the Mod Aid people all those years ago and for standing up for me during the subsequent fall out after wards. I would like to especially thank Richard Karstrom and Brian Poust for bringing me into the Uppers fold in the late 90’s and for affording me the opportunity to edit the music section when Brian moved on. Special thanks are also due to the people at The New Untouchables, Marina Records and Acid Jazz for affording me the opportunity to receive, listen to and review a great many CD’s which they and countless other labels have provided me with.

I thank you all for the opportunity you've afforded me and I was happy to be a part of Uppers for nearly the past decade. I hope that everyone has enjoyed my articles and that perhaps the reading of them has prompted people to go out and investigate some of the sounds I have written about.

About the author

Bill Luther was born in 1966. A veteran of Desert Storm and numerous "scene" wars he is a lifelong New Jerseyite who drives a British car, has a Portuguese wife and at the moment loves 60's Scandinavian music. He lists his passions as brown ale, defending the first Bowie Lp and collecting/firing WW2 rifles. Try as he may he cannot escape the modernist lifestyle he has lived these past 25+ years.
