Oh how Swede it is...

Two recent releases from the cold North. Uppers investigates full length albums by The Men and The Moving Sounds. Read on.

The Men - Return (The Men Records/Playground TMLP1636)
Sweden's The Men consists of people from bands like The Sinners, The Girls, Colubrids and Thee Expression. Their current album "Return" - only their own material - is pretty much rooted in classic sixties UK r'n'b… Stones, Who et al. Melodic guitar-driven attacks a plenty, with a few slower numbers to balance things. A darn fine live band, but 'til they hit your town check out this album.

The Moving Sounds - Ground Shaker (Copasedisques CDCD002)
For their second album, The Moving Sounds went to Toe Rag Studios in London. Their groovy Hammond blend of soul and garage has never sounded better. Seven self-penned tunes and some well chosen covers, including the bands take on the obscure Swedish sixties tune "Igor the dog". The band also offer a small excursion into a more cheerful pop sound in the nice "About You". Highly recommended!

As every man and his dog, the bands have their own MySpace pages. Go there and check out soundfiles and info on how to get your hands on these releases. Tell them Uppers sent you.
